I’ll preface this by saying, I am a woman. As well, women are just as objectified today as they were hundreds of years ago and they certainly know it.
I will fully admit that the easiest way to get a man’s attentions, and not necessarily his affections, is to play upon that objectification- that is, if one has the wiles to do so.
Now, I’m not saying that a good old fashion courting wouldn’t work just as well; however, rather than flowers, chocolates and whispering promises you don’t intend to keep, a beautiful woman can easily present herself to an interested party, male or female, and do something a little more exploratory. In the past, this blatant show of exploration might have been displayed as a simple flash of skin or an undercut bustier. Due to the catastrophically wonderful world of the internet, it’s certainly going to take more than a pair of buxom breasts and a flaxen quim to tickle our sexually inclined fancies.
Since our society is becoming more progressive in certain areas, girl-on-girl action is becoming a new drug of choice for curious ladies of the young variety. Even popstars like Britney, Madonna, and Katy Perry are proclaiming that a little romp in the happy lesbian grove is fashionable. But when everything can be seen and shared through sites like Youtube and Facebook, why would girls place videos of their ventures where everyone can see them?
I would like to think that one of the main reasons women of all ages have been riding the Youtube lesbian train is self-expression and communication. Maybe what these adventurous women mean to say by placing their homemade films in the public domain is: “I’m open to new experiences.” To prove you mean what you say by performing accordingly and broadcasting it to the world is certainly one way to show the world that you’re trying a more progressive approach toward relationships.
Really, there should be no reason why ‘straight’ girls shouldn’t be allowed to taste new flavours. The more people are told they shouldn’t do something, the more human nature kicks in and the more those that have been told not to want to know why not. So the more someone tells a young girl that kissing her friends is something young girls don’t do, the more the young girl will be bent on rebellion. This as well could explain the resent Yaoi phenomenon amongst young men.
Another reason could be that women want to prove that they can plainly do it better. I’m not saying that men cannot please a woman – in fact they’ve been doing a wonderful job for ages. The budding feminist in some women may want to show that they can please a woman just as well, if not even better. When asked to explain the lyrics to her highly controversial song Raspberry Swirl, Tori Amos said the following:
“The animus in me is like a Raspberry Swirl. I’m in love with my women friends, but I just don’t eat pussy. But I’m still in love with them. If I had a different sensibility, then you know I think I could really fulfill someone down there, where a lot of men in their lives don’t.” [Alternative Press - July 1998]
Perhaps girl-on-girl videos are empowering to those in them, in a “ha-ha, look what you can’t have” sense of things. But no matter what the reason behind this growing juicy phenomenon, everybody seems to want to watch. {w}

About 10.000 protesters took on the street of Toronto on the opening day of G20. After 2 hours of peaceful march, about 100 violent black-blocs anarchists left the march and started smashing windows and police cars. After about a hour and a half, police began trapping protesters in Queen's Park, as the anarchists changed clothes and vanished, leaving peaceful protesters against police charge and pepper sprays bullets.

This article was interesting in that it brought to light something I sure wasn’t familiar with – girl on girl action being posted on Youtube. Hot?
Possibly to some, but just for a moment let’s look at why. Because girls think they can do it better, because they are experimenting or because they are taking a more progressive approach to relationships? All valid possibilities which the article puts forward, but what about these: perhaps girls find it safer to experiment with their girlfriends because girls generally understand the complexity of emotions involved better than men. Girls can kiss their girlfriends and still remain friends whereas a guy might get weirded out and not call anymore. In which case, great, kiss away. But the thing I don’t get is why post it on the net? Where is the class in that? At least when porn stars do it – they get paid. And it seems to me that displaying yourself sexually is actually not a good way to find someone to be in a relationship with you – who will actually respect you. You’d think in all these years of being ‘objectified’ we would have actually learned the difference between attention for attention’s sake and good attention. How is exposing yourself for the pleasure of others really doing the exposer any good?
