COPENHAGEN has become Hopenhagen, the heart of the fight against climate change.
Between 50,000 and 60,000 campaigners lined the streets in a peaceful vigil at the weekend calling upon world leaders to put politics aside and secure a uniting and bold deal.
Fellow Young Reporters in the Plan delegation are enthusiastic and hopeful that they can make a difference and that world leaders will listen to them. But although the Young Reporters remain optimistic, Dr Amanda Katili, a member of the Indonesian governmental negotiation team revealed her apprehensions about the progress of the summit.
Over dinner she told the Plan reporters that the talks were hard, tiring and slow.
Her opinion was that currently the negotiations seem to be taking one step forwards and one step back.
She is not alone in this view but the pleas from the campaigners are lifting the spirits of the summit and turning up the heat on the negotiators.
Kenyan Young Reporter Joseph said: I would like to meet the negotiators and they tell them my views on what should be done to save the planet.
He also described the impact of a shortage of clean water in the Kenyan drought. This is forcing people to drink contaminated water and is leading to water-borne diseases.
The classrooms are also full of dust and it makes learning very hard, he said.
Fellow Kenyan reporter Beatrice told how she would like to meet with U.S President Barack Obama because of his natural connection with his homeland.
Danish police arrested more than 900 people at the weekend under tough new laws. But this has not apparently deterred passionate protesters who have now set their sights on the Canadian embassy.
Canada has come scrutiny over its increased production of emission-heavy tar sands oil which has made this developed country the shock villain of the talks so far.
