33 Revolutions: one-hour ode to good music

TurnTables by S. PipicelloSomething happened on the road to revolution.

Someone or something above pulled on the strings of creativity and left us in the wake of mediocrity. Exposure to thought-provoking music has been shaded by an ADD-led onslaught of 15 minute-famers whose momentary appeal doesn’t seem to have the prerequisite punch card.

Bubblegum pop has left a bad taste in my mouth and normally I love both bubblegum and pop.

My proposition is like a double-edged sword and it’s time to start swinging people. For those of us who don’t believe that a fat and furry creature (who is smart enough to sleep all winter) can predict how much longer we will have to endure this frozen tundra and for those that simply want to blast away the pain of mediocre music, follow these instructions:

Find yourself a decent stereo system
Make sure your obnoxious neighbours are home
Mix yourself a strong drink-something tropical!!!
Play the following list in order and at max volume

I Idolize You - Ike and Tina Turner

Grits Ain’t Groceries - Little Milton

Gamma Ray - Beck

On Board - Friendly Fires

Rich Girls - The Virgins

Uptown Top Ranking - Althea and Donna

Something’s Got A Hold On Me - Etta James

Goin’ Down South - R.L. Burnside feat. Lyrics Born

Big Ideas - LCD Soundsystem

The Sweat Descends - Les Savy Fav

P.S. Author not responsible for broken speakers, altercations with aforementioned neighbours and/or police intervention. However, author will take credit for any amorous adventures with one or multiple partners. {w}

The G20 Summit - Love & Confrontation

The G20 Summit RiotsAbout 10.000 protesters took on the street of Toronto on the opening day of G20. After 2 hours of peaceful march, about 100 violent black-blocs anarchists left the march and started smashing windows and police cars. After about a hour and a half, police began trapping protesters in Queen's Park, as the anarchists changed clothes and vanished, leaving peaceful protesters against police charge and pepper sprays bullets.
